What is it: A festival celebrating all things Polish
Info: Each September, Portland’s only Polish church puts on a polka and pirogi-filled fest. Located at the Polish Library Hall and the St. Stanislaus Church grounds in North Portland, the highlights include cultural music, dancing and, of course, food.
Tokens, not cash, are used to buy traditional pirogis ($5), kielbasa ($5) and Placki Ziemniaczane (potato pancakes - $4). And, of course, no festival would be complete without Polish beer ($5) and other wines and liqueurs ($4).
Highlights include the polka competition, Saturday street dance and jewelry vendors.
