Insider tip: Portland’s Oldest Restaurant is known for their killer presentation of Spanish coffees

Review: Huber’s stakes the claim as Portland’s oldest restaurant. The cavernous bar is in the back of the restaurant if you enter from the street, so don’t worry if you can’t find it right away.

Although it first opened in 1879, the restaurant/bar moved to its current location almost 95 years ago, in 1911, and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Huber’s is a popular hangout of some Portland Trail Blazers. The weekends are packed with tourists and the people who are trying to impress them, as bartenders whip up more than 200 Spanish coffees a night – each time it’s a decent show.

Happy hour specials apply to food only. Appetizers are standard fare – it’s more a place to go for booze and to check out the cool ceiling than dinner.
