Info: In 2005, a record 45,000 runners, walkers and survivors turned out for the annual Race for the Cure in Portland. This family friendly-event raised more than 2 million dollars, 75% of which stays in Oregon and SW Washington.

The Race for the Cure features a 5k run, a 5k walk and a 1 mile walk. There are women-only and co-ed races. If you have one of the later start times, expect to wait at least an hour before crossing the start line, as it takes awhile for thousands of people to shuffle down the street.

After the event, there is an extensive outdoor expo with vendor and sponsor booths, as well as a separate VIP tent for breast cancer survivors.
